When
flicking through my grandma’s old recipe scrapbook I found this one, which is
perfectly appropriate for Mardi Gras!
Carnival is coming so be ready to have
fun and lots of sweet foods!
Orange
doughnuts
– 3 or 4
oranges
– 2 tbsp sugar
– 30g sugar
-1 cc orange
flower water (optional)
– 1 egg
– 200g flour
– 1tbsp vegetable
oil
– frying
oil
– 150ml milk
Peel off
the oranges and slice them off sideways or just separate the slices. Sprinkle
with 2 tablespoon of sugar and the orange flower water and leave aside for 1 to
2 hours.
Preparation
of the dough:
Mix
together the flour and the sugar with a pinch of salt. Add the egg and the oil
and blend all the ingredients together. Pour the milk in small quantities and keep
mixing. We want a quite thick dough.
Remove the
excess juice on the orange by tapping with some kitchen paper. Rub them in the
dough and drop in the hot oil.
remove when
the doughnuts get a golden brown colour and soak onto some kitchen paper.
Sprinkle with a good amount of sugar.
